Recent attention has fallen on Xbox 360 welcoming the next-generation iteration of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, but the folks over at DICE haven't forgotten their dedicated fans on the PC side. The Swedish developers are currently finishing work on Battlefield 2's anticipated 1.3 patch, which will introduce new features and fixes.
The biggest addition comes in the form of a single-player co-op mode playable both on a traditional LAN and over the Internet. If you don't have enough human players available, though, AI controlled bots with a number of tweakable behavior variables can be brought in from the sidelines.
Version 1.3 will also introduce air-dropped vehicles and fix the following in-game issues:
Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash.
Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play.
Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets.
Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target.
