double check or I hate spam. I think I hate spam is client side. double check is pretty cool. It sits in front of the Exchange server and filters it there.

Yep. Double Check is a custom solution a VAR out east developed. Basically it is a seperate box that runs Linux, QMail, Spam Assasin and a bunch of other utils. They have a really good web interface for it and it is very configurable with lots of reporting. Unfortunately right now it only does direct MX record type email, no POP3. That may change in the future and right now CP is planning on providing hosted mail and virus checking for some of our clients using it.

I Hate Spam is another good one. They have both a client version that plugs into Outlook and a server side Exchange version. Kevin has used the client version and likes it a lot, but you will have to train users how to use it and mark messages that get through for future flagging as spam. We haven't tried their Exchange server version, but if it is anything like the client piece it should be pretty good. It should also handle POP3 incoming mail just fine.

Oh and McAffee's SpamKiller sucks ass.

Cool, can you shoot me some links? Those terms are too broad for google searching. Also, have you guys looked at Symantec's Security Manager for Exchange? It looks cool on their site but real world testing is what matters. Thanks for the info.

You can find the iHate SPAM info at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com.
Info on Double Check can be found at: http://www.heartlandtechnologies.com/business/anti_spam.asp.

We haven't tried the Security Manager product. So far our experience with the Spam filters built in to the AV products has been poor. Hopefully they did better with the other product.
