View Full Version : New WoW Guild Roster page

I've just implemented a new script that beautifully shows our WoW guild roster. This same script is being used by The Hybrid Council (http://hybridcouncil.com/forums/) and it inspired me to set it one up for ourselves. You can find ours here: http://www.orderofevisceration.com/guildroster
You'll need a few tools to add your info to this roster. You can find these tools attached to this post. Extract the CharacterProfiler into your WoW directory (it should end up in your Addon directory). I've also included a PvPlog for those that want to track that as well.
The UniUploader is purely optional but highly recommended. If you choose to use the UniUploader make sure you have .net 1.1 installed, launch Uniuploader and then copy/paste this url: http://www.orderofevisceration.com/guildroster/admin/update.php into the first field. You can launch WoW from this and when you log off it will auto-upload your character data to the site.
And that's it! Instructions are also listed at the bottom of the GuildRoster page.
Enjoy!!

The UniUploader is pretty frickin slick, too. I highly recommend using it to keep your stats update in the easiest way. ;)

I also wanted to add, for those that missed the update instructions off the actual roster page, be sure to open your character, bank, quests and profession windows the first time so the addon can capture all that data. Once you have the data uploaded and would like a cool sig image file, it is available as well on your character page. Just let us know if you need help setting that up.

Done! Got all the alts in there too. However, not sure exactly what the best way to go about getting the sig image. Usually you link the image when you put it in a sig. I couldn't see how to find the url to the sig image. Instruct the newb please.
Also, what is the chance we could get a direct link to this on the main page or the nav bar? I'm pretty sure its just a matter of haven't had time yet instead of don't want to?

Ok... to add the cool image in your signature just add:http://www.orderofevisceration.com/guildroster/sig/<Charactername>.png Just replace <Charactername> with the, well, character name of your chosing (without the carrots, of course).

btw... don't forget to open open your professions to grab your recipes, too. :)Yep, had to go back in with Mel to get those and then I ended up going to UBRS. It happened so fast I just didnt' know what to do. Lets see, did any valor drop? Yep, 2 bracers, got them already. No shield, 25% my ass and at least belladonna got his magisters.

Does this change the armor it shows for you in guildroster to your last outfit before logging off?
FYI, is it just me? or does Cyllene's picture looks hawt!

I think what it does is records your information from the last time you opened a particular screen, like your inventory. I haven't tested that so it's only a theory.

In the character screen there is a save button in the upper left corner. You have to do that like one time to get it to start auto saving or something. Its supposed to work automatically once its all up and running.

How long does it take to update? Mine doesnt work.
Dante

If you started WoW with the UniUploader it should update as soon as you exit the game. If it doesn't do that then there's the update button you can try or manually uploading it (which I really haven't provided instructions for  )

How long does it take to update? Mine doesnt work.Couple of things I've learned. You may need to go to your paperdoll in game and find the save button in the upper left corner and hit that. It should then tell you what it did and did not save. Get all those to save. If for some reason it doesn't show you, type /cp show and it will be more verbose when it comes to letting you know what data it captured. If you are using the UniUploader you will need to choose additional saved variables files. In particular you will need to choose CharacterProf. You can see what sv's its trying to upload by clicking the show sv's button on the first page of the uniuploader. I was having updating problems yesterday myself and got it all working this morning doing all those things. Hope that helps.

HELP!!... I have no idea what this .net 1.1 is or where to get it. Remeber Dante your working with a very simple individual here and I don't have you here to fix it for me if I make a booboo. Need Baby steps.. :)

Run windows updates and get all the optional updates also and it will include the .NET 1.1 Framework for you. Best way I can explain the framework is that its a bunch of files that go on your computer that programs written for .NET use while executing, if they are not there, it no worky!

Hop on over to your Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) site and download it from there. You'll find it in the Custom section. Make sure you also get the service pack, too. ;) Install .NET 1.1, reboot and then install the service pack.

Ok, I have everything updated and installed as far as I know. When I am in WOW I now have the option to hit save on my character sheet when open it. I am trying to link from the website using the instructions but I am not getting it to work..

I am still having issues, most likely it is opperator error, so I will wait and get one of you guys on TS to help me figure it out. I am sure it is something simple.

2 things, the character profiler has been updated and should auto update when you launch it, everyone may want to make sure they have it updated.
Also, Dante, my mouseover's on the character sheets in the roster aren't working. Could you double check that for me?
Ok, 3 things, I see some slackers on the roster who havent updated yet. Get on it or you'll be demoted! ;)

I appears that Kyraath's main toon is experiencing the same problem. Make sure that you have the latest CharacterProfile file which I have updated in the first post on this thread. Then login, resave your character info and reupload.
Give that a go and report back soldier.

Ok, it truly does appear that the Uniuploader is not working as it should and at this point I do not recommend using it. Please stay with the tried and true manual method. :thumbwink:

Uniuploader works fine! You just have to use it correctly...Mine works fine! Again, I'll say it. Make sure you click the Show SVs button and ensure that PvPLog and Character Profiler are checked. And the URL is set to http://orderofevisceration.com/guildroster/admin/update.php. I also think you need to launch wow from the uniuploder. If you do not, it will not auto update. However, if you didn't launch from the uploader, I belive you can still just open it and hit the upload button and that will work as well. RTFM! JK y'all!

Well, MAL-ASS, this only happened AFTER I used the uniuploader and yes, I double checked that its the latest version and yes, I checked the SV's and yes, I launched WoW from the uniuploader. Anything else genious?

Malice, I have gone through all my settings even before your post and everything on my end is setup properly. Mine even appears to upload successfully but after referring to the Guild roster after the fact nothing is updated. And yes I do launch WoW from Uniuploader. So in deduction Uniuploader is not 100% functional on all computers. The common sense solution is, continue to use it if it works properly; use the manuel method as described on the bottom of the roster page if it doesn't. 'nuff said.
I will continue to test more configurations to keep everyone informed.
D-Bone
Jan 8th '06, 10:26 PM
use the manuel method
Is that some new guy you hired that updates the page by hand? Hmm, do I need to email him my config or what?

Yep! He's the OOE slave. He's pretty new since I just bought him from the market not too long ago.

Hmm....yet another case in favor of manual updates to the roster site....I haven't had any problems with it yet, lol.....
Sometimes, simplicity is good, albeit more time consuming....
Anyhow, post more info, Ty, and we'll see what we can do! :)
(and no comments are needed about how I haven't updated mine in awhile...I'm LAZY, that's different. :) )

So I can't get the sig picture to work with the new version. They are not image files directly but are php files that generate an image. Apparantly the img tags don't like to work on those links. I know I had the same problem with the LITL site and php dynamically created images and I had to modify the bb code to get it to work. What do you think Dante?
Dante
Sep 3rd '06, 07:05 AM
Fixed. I guess I need to updated the instructions. The url to the image is the same but creating a clickable image to the roster page is a bit different now.

I guess what was throwing me off was that when your looking at your profile it tells you to use a different url to get your sig. They say to use,
http://www.orderofevisceration.com/guildroster/addons/siggen/sig.php?name=<charnamehere>. I tried to do that and thats why it wasn't working apparantly.

Ya, I have mod_rewrite enabled for it so all you have to do is type in your character name for the png filename. The mouse-over's are a bit misleading.
