I've been reading up on the latest info on the XBox360 and the PlayStation 3. My comments here are going to be about the PS3.

There's a 2 hour video (http://bogmon.com/media/2stream_sonypress_e305_hi.wmv) that was recorded at E3 demo'ing the PS3 and they tout the horsepower of this box. It's very impressive, to say the least, but they build it up to be the greatest home appliance in the world and that it's going to totally revolutionize the way we do things. whatever... All the things they said that the PS3 will bring are all the things that our current computers do for us today. They just put it in a nice tidy little box. AND, it's rumored to cost around $500. :whoa:

They showed some very impressive engine demos, a couple of which were a bit canned (pre-scripted, even though they played it off as being live), and the drool factor is certainly there. However, the graphics capability of the box by the time it's released will once again be shadowed by cutting edge technology for the PC. Now, if only PC games could be written to take full advantage of that specific hardware (impossible, yes.. I'm aware)

The power of the Cell is also very impressive in the fact of how frickin fast it is. There was a demonstration showing a field of leaves and as they backed away the entire scene was made up of individual leaves, a good million of them or more, complete with swirling tornados and rolling hills. Out of all the tech demos, that was the most impressive for me. Words really can't describe that one.

One of the hotly debated items is the demo of an upcoming game, Killzone (http://www.orderofevisceration.com/download/sonycon_games_06_killzone_wmvlow.wmv). I have my doubts about this one as well. It all looks too pre-rendered to be actual gameplay. And that's the debate. The creators of it say this:

Jan-Bart: Yeah, it's basically a representation of the look and feel of the game we're trying to make. Repesentation. Straight from the makers mouth.

Ok... 'nuff said. If you guys ever have time to watch the video, do it. It's indeed good stuff. I, personally, am buying one just for Gran Turismo 5. :D
