Ok, the forums have been quiet lately so I'l start a topic sure to get some good responses...
NVIDIA vs. ATI
Lets hear pros and cons for both, personal feelings, etc etc.
My thoughts - The competition has grown fierce over the past year. The crown for fastest framerates has passed back and forth between both companies lately. But, is the fastest video card all that matters? In my opinion, no. I think its important to look at the company as a whole instead of raw clock speeds. I see Nvidia as a company in constant growth pushing the limits and driving the industry. Just look at the nforce chipset. A company that started out as being known for video cards now has one the best performing chipsets on the market. Their newest GPU however does not perform as well as most people expected. Is this due to them wanting to stick to the strict product release cycle? Hard to say. All though it is quite ambitious of them to try and release a new GPU every year and have it be the best thing available, I think this could hurt them in the long run. As long as nvidia keeps up their outstanding driver support, I think they'll be ok. Now then, ATI has good points and bad points too. As a company, I think ATI has been forced to compete and that is the only reason they are still around. Thats not really a bad thing, but I don't think they would be at the same stage they are at now unless they were challenged to do so by nvidia. ATI has always been known for great multimedia products. I think they still are. Their all-in-wonder products are great. But it seems ATI has seemed to always have a problem with driver support and I think that is a major hurdle they need to overcome. Even though they have the fastest GPU currently available, I think ATI still has some work to do in order to beat nvidia.
Anyway, just some of my thoughts on the matter. What do you guys think?
