I swear, if I read one more news story that tries to tell everyone what a problem SP2 is, I'm going to explode. Lately all the news stories have been about all these IT people saying "OMG?!?! SP2?!?! What are we gonna do? It's gonna break everything!!!"
Here's the problems I have with news outlets and the whiners they report on.
1. SP2 has been in development for a very long time and RC's of SP2 have been available for testing for a LONG time. It's like these people just woke up and heard about SP2 for the very first time last week.
2. It's being pushed out through automatic update. Well shit, oh my, large corporations don't know what to do with themselves... Ok, you run a large corporate network and you let automatic updates just roll out everything without ever testing anything? You don't use your own update server? Well, you are asking for trouble then. Too bad for you. Learn how to run a network properly.
3. Microsoft is finally making a step in the right direction in regards to security concerns. Ever since XP was released, everyone complained about how unsecure and problematic it was. Now that MS has addressed that and made an excellent service pack, all people can do is complain. Amazing. These people need to be shot.
So you take these perceived problems and idiots in the media and you get headlines such as "SP2 destroys world economy" or something.
Anyway, I'm sure this will start a nice flame war :)
