We love our Rock Band just as much as everyone else, but there's no denying that Harmonix had a shaky launch for their new game. A hefty price tag for the full bundle, frequent cases of broken equipments, and the lack of individual instruments available for purchase all came together to push some people off of the, er, Rock Band-wagon. Some changes are finally lined up, though.
Electronic Arts (via IGN) announced today that individual Rock Band instruments will begin shipping to retail locations in February. Rock Band drum kits will be available on February 12th for $79.99, followed by wireless Rock Band guitars in April for $59.99.
This will be the first time that wireless guitars have been available for use on the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band. Curiously, if you buy a guitar for the Playstation, it will be compatible with both the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.
No info was provided on whether or not EA will offer Rock Band-branded microphones as well, but most any USB microphone should work with the game as well as the Xbox Live headset. If this news is your cue to finally get in on the Rock Band action, see what you've been missing with 1UP's review (http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3164456&sec=REVIEWS).
