Help me decide. Lets say I have about 1K for the hardware. What would you do?

Do you need monitor and OS included in that price?

Nope. I'm good on that end.
This is what I came up with so far AMD (https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6431352&WishListTitle=amd+box) Intel (https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6431472&WishListTitle=Intel+Box)
So how's that. Both of which are more than a grand. So help me out.

Well, my personal preference is to go with the AMD system. The mobo and proc are cheaper and going to perform just as good.
Any specific reason you are getting 2 8600GT's instead of a single higher end card for the same price?

I thought intel was the king again and their prices were just as good as AMD?

I was looking at the total V-Mem in comparrison to a single card with the same memory. Well, my personal preference is to go with the AMD system. The mobo and proc are cheaper and going to perform just as good.

I was looking at the charts at THG and the Intel is again the performance leader.
