Thought I would check with the powers to be.

I have three different printers that are being offered to fulfill some new work obligations I am being offered.

Hp4350tn total cost for 3 years $6500 (55ppm)
Xerox 5500tn total cost for 3 years $10000 (50ppm)
Lanier Lp175hdn total cost for 3 years $11000 (75ppm)

This is taking into account average maintenance/toner. The Hp has the added memory all ready in the price.
The Lanier also comes with the option to lease it or buy. The only one that does. Our tech ppl are kinda pushing towards that option thereby removing the need to repair the unit ourselves...

Anyone have any suggestions?? Really looking at the long term usability. Whats gonna last. I have used alot of the low end Hp units but really have had no experience with Xerox or Laniers.

I've never been much of a printer guy. I know we have tons of HP's at work and some Xerox also. Both seem to go down once in a while but not that much considering the volume. I've actually never heard of the other brand but it sounds high end. I'm guessing all of them will be decent printers. I think a lot of places have gone to leasing as you say. Its a fixed cost which makes the finance departments happy because its easy to budget for.

We use Xerox printer/copy stations at work and they see HEAVY use. We lease them due to said heavy use and there's a maintenance guy paying us a visit at least once a month, sometimes every two weeks. That's the benefit of leasing. No additional cost to have the maintainence guy working on them so much. We've offered to set up an office with a bed for him so he never has to leave but he didn't take us up on that offer. Our leasing contract also includes toner replacement.

HP has always produced fantastic printers in all markets. So you can't go wrong with them. Plus, speaking from a tech point of view who has worked on them, I always recommend HP for the ease of maintainence. They are designed with the tech in mind.

I'm not familiar with Lanier so I can't offer any thoughts on their product.
