I took this topic out of the gaming section on gaming rigs cause I didn't want to clutter it up.
Choda is using the Sennheiser PC150 headset. Are you satisfied with it? I hear fantastic things about Sennheiser. The headset I have now is so uncomfortable that I get a migrane every time I use them for a while. What isthe comfort level those provide?
What do the rest of you use and are you happy with what you have? I've decided comfort should be very high on the priority list since gaming with a really bad headache is like trying to fight with one hand tied behind your back.
Seems the PC150's are about $40 and the PC155's (which are also USB or standard) run about $140. Looked at the specs and it doesn't seem the 155's offer too much more? BTW if you are interested in looking at this stuff their website is hard to find with the headsets on it, it's here (http://www.sennheisercommunications.com/pr-pcheadsets.html).

I have a set of SONY MDR-CD380 and i frickin love them. I can wear them all day without feeling my head throb at all. My previous headphones did have the problem of causing headaches so that's why i ended up switching to these. Very large ear pieces with a soft cloth ear piece instead of the standard vinyl or some other synthetic crap. Plus when they are on, they are large enough that they don't even touch my actual ear. I think that helps the most with the headaches, at least for me. Next session I'll show them to you if your are interested.

Sennheisers are great. I've had a few different models (HD580, HD497) and should be getting some PC150s this week. All of the ones I've tried are extremely comfortable as they rest around and not directly on the ear. Also the headbands are very well padded. The other nice thing about Sennheisers in my opinion is that they're open air so you're not completely sealed off from outside noises. This way I can hear D-Bone bitch and moan when I frag him. :D
The only concern I have about the PC150s is that I'm not sure they completely go around the ear. Guess I'll find out here soon.

This is very different from mine, when I have mine on, it completely seals out the outside world. Which to me i'd rather have, sure I get to miss out on d-bone's squeals of pain, but i'm also not pulled out of the emersive experience by things i don't want to hear

It all depends on whether you want to hear outside noise or not. Sonys would be a much better choice if you want to be in insolation.

Check this site out if you're a headphone junkie like myself.

Oh yes, I've spent some time on headroom before. SOOO much info! I was reading that the PC150's are noise cancelation aren't they? That would mean that they completely eliminate all outside noise. I guess we should ask Choda if he can hear anything outside.
The problem is I wanted a new pair for RAMCON, perhaps I should order some now....hmmmm

Dude for sure get'em "there the best Jerry the best!" U can?t go wrong with the price that they are at now a days. There are so much cheaper than they use to be. When they fist came out they were something like $69 to $100 bucks and to help matters Sennheiser just released the PC155 which has brought the price of the PC150?s down a lot. So for just about $20 bucks more than the Plantronics Audio .90 I think its worth it. I also think that they sound so much better and their product quality for making headphones is awesome. Although Plantronics Audio .90?s are not too bad especial if u really don't want to spend to much on a pair of headphones that have a nice built in mic then I would go for the Plantronics. I have a pair of the Plantronics Audio .90 and their light and pretty comfortable and they don't sound too bad either. So if don't order them it?s all good and if yours are hurting ur ears and head and if u would like to, u can use my Audio 90?s if u want to. Cuz I?m gonna bring?em to Ramcon any ways. As for the noise cancellation on the PC150?s, it?s the mic that tries to cancel out any of the misc outside noise/clatter so the mic just picks up ur voice and nothing else. It also helps if ur mic is on open talk and not push key to talk it won?t pick up any of that noise and activate the mic and start broadcasting the outside noise to others.
I'm out...

Well, I went ahead and ordered a pair of PC150's from Mwave. They were on sale for only like $44! Should be here before RAMCON! I have heard so many good things about them that I'm sure I won't be disapointed.
