The latest rumor to hit Internet forums claims that Microsoft will announce during the week of CES 2007 the Xbox Live Arcade version of Team17's Worms.
Worms is a turn-based strategy game where teams of worms battle across bizarre landscapes. Each team takes it in turns to pick off the opposing teams using crazy weapons such as bazookas, grenades, dynamite, exploding sheep, old ladies and the dreaded concrete donkey. Some of these weapons have a limited supply so strategy must be used to achieve maximum carnage.
Worms die when they lose all of their energy or plunge into the icy depths of the water surrounding the levels. The winning team is the one that manages to survive the mayhem and have worms left standing when the dust settles.
Worms for Xbox Live Arcade will feature versus multiplayer for up to eight players or bots, either offline or online via Xbox Live. The game modes included with this version of Worms have yet to be confirmed.
