AMD today released the last set of ATI Catalyst drivers of 2006. This brings ATI Catalyst up to version 6.12. As with all previous ATI Catalyst releases, 6.12 resolves issues in Black & White 2, Neverwinter Nights, Cyberlink PowerDVD and Catalyst Control Center. However, there are still known issues with Battlefield 2, Sniper Elite, PowerDVD and menus in Catalyst Control Center.
While AMD generally adds new features to ATI Catalyst driver releases, release 6.12 doesn?t add many new features. Nevertheless, release 6.12 allows ATI CrossFire users to have DirectX video acceleration when CrossFire is enabled. As with other recent ATI Catalyst driver releases, version 6.12 only supports AMD ATI Radeon 9500 and higher products including Radeon Xpress X1150 and 200 series chipsets.
The latest Catalyst 6.12 is available for Windows XP (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html), Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/mce/radeonx-mce.html) and Windows XP Professional x64 (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp64/radeonx-xp64.html). A new beta driver for Windows Vista 32bit (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vista32/common-vista32.html) and 64bit versions (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vista64/common-vista64.html) was also released as well.
