It's quite pathetic that I have to be the one to report this, especially since I do not go to CSU and we have someone that does....uhhumm...Kyraath. Anyway, it looks as if RAMCON is back in action. They have it scheduled for April 17th so clear your schedules! It doesn't look like they've opened up registration just yet but I'm sure they will soon. Check it out here (http://www.ramcon.net).
I would also like to mention that UCCS is having their SPLAT the week before, April 10th but I'm not even sure I'm going to go to that one. However, they are going to have one on May 15th that I will probably go to. I know these dates are a long way out and I will try to remind as we get closer.
All SPLAT information can be found here (http://splat.uccs.edu).

Also signed up, I think if enough of us can go we should really try and do something tournament wise if they set that up.

Unfortunately it seems this is a lot lower budget than before. They don't have any planed tournaments or events. There are a lot of people who are saying they are never going to pull it off. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well I'm all signed up. So is there any more of us that is going to sign up? I didn?t see {OOE}Ghost on the registration page is he going? As far as what {OOE}Malice was saying about Ramcon not having any real organized tournaments and not much of a game list either. May we should start posting/lobbing on Ramcon?s forum?s listing games that we would like to see played as well as even suggest what type of tournaments Ramcon should try on hosting. May be it will put some serious pressue on the organizers to implement something based off our requests for better/different games and or torneys. For example: Enemy Territory, Return to Castle Wolfnestein or Call of Duty and even Day of Defeat. As for me the games they have listed I not a big fan of. However I sure all of you know what games I love and know, I?m all about First Person Shooter?s baby and most of the games that they have listed, if not all of them are RPG style. Now I?m not calling out those games they all have their place but what I think made Ramcon cool as well as successful was all the tourney?s they had and all of the pick-up FPS team based games during the event. So I?m Calling On All Of {OOE} to ready up! and start practicing your game play and tactics with the hopes of Ramcon having some type of organized event in the end. Cause I know if they did? {OOE} would dominate the competition and we would own them all at this years Ramcon.
PS that?s if u guys want to, if not no big deal guys however I did send Ramcon?s organizer an e-mail on the overview of this post. {OOE} ?Let?s ROCK!?.
I?m out

Here is the e-mail that the Maestro:
Hello Maestro,
I'm sure that your all ready well aware of Ramcon?s form page has been down for awhile however if your not aware of this then I?m letting you know now. So if you could look into it, it would be much appreciated. There are some posts that I would like add on to Ramcon?s game selections as well as some tournament proposals. I would also like to see if there is some interest on having some type of tournament and to see if any one would be interested in running/organizing one. Of course this would based off the forums posted replies on the related topic and which game appears to be the most popular for the selection process. Now I know that you?re probably all ready aware of Ramcon?s past events and how they have been pretty successful along with their tournaments and gaming list. Now at no means am I trying to tell you how to run the Ramcon because I just appreciate the fact that you not only have brought the event back this year but you are going through the hassles of organizing they event just in general. However what I think made Ramcon so cool as well as so successful in my opinion was all the tourney?s they had and the amount of all the pick-up FPS team based and deathmatch games during the event that you could participate in all day long and night. As far as prizes and excreta to me that?s not what?s important, winning a t-shirt or video card that?s cool an all but that is really not the point for me its just really not that big deal for me. What is a big deal for me and what I think is important more or less is just the fact of having some type of team and or individual tournament champion of the event is. So just having some type of tournament I think would just rock. So here are some of the games that I would have suggested on Ramcon?s forum?s or at least I would of like to of seen some posts on or even suggested tournament types of team based or deathmatch games would have been cool as well as good for this years Ramcon event. I think Ramcon should at least try on hosting some type of tournament. For example: Team Based: Enemy Territory (Which is a FREE game to Download), Return to Castle Wolfnestein, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Day of Defeat and yes even that ultimate cheaters based game, which I even hate mentioning Counter Strike. And as far as Deathmatch Based Quake 2, Quake 3 and Quake 3 Team Arena just to name a few. Just with the intent to get the people excited and involved of know that there is going to be some type of tournament at this Ramcon. As for me the games that people have already listed on the forum before the forum went down I?m not a big fan of. I know by now you should be quite aware of my position on what types of games I love and know (I?m all about First Person Shooter?s baby) but most of the games that have listed, if not all of them are some style of RPG. Now I?m not calling out those types of games we all know they all have their place. But what I think made Ramcon so special was the Quake3 single-player deathmatch, RTCW tourney that unfortunately never got played the last two years do to time delays do to power outage issues and finally the Counter Strike and Starcraft tournaments. I have attended all of the past Ramcon events and I?m look forward to attending this one as well, so I would like to wish the very best of luck in organizing/hosting this years Ramcon of 2004. I hope and I look forward to hear from you sometime soon on what you think are the possibilities or having some type of tourney at Ramcon this year and the status of the Ramcon's forums webpage. I also would like to thank you for time and consideration of this e-mail.
Sincerely,
The {OOE} Clan
PS Let me know what you guys think. K guys I'll shutup now I'm Out Again...

Bravo Choda! You da man!
In addition to that, I just wanna put this out there and see what response it gets. What if we somehow offered to set up the tourney? I know this may be beyond our capacity somewhat but what do you guys think? It would most likely require a bigger time commitment from a few of us, and I dont wanna volunteer anyone. Ross/Bill, what are the chances we could rent/borrow some gear from CP to make this happen? I would be down with driving up friday to help setup whatever is needed or in any other way. Also, if we do decide to do this, I think we should make sure we arent trying to step on the toes of the ramcon crew. Anyway, just some ramblings straight from my brain as of right now...

FIrst of all, we have no gear to rent/borrow. We'd have better luck with me bringing all 60 ports of hub/switches we game on at my place.
Second, Choda good idea. Give them feed back.
Thirdly there is no way in hell they would turn over that much control to people not involved with CSU/Ramcon. It's an idea but I don't see it happening. I won't speak for Ross but I asked him about Ramcon today and it was like a yeah whatever, leaning to ummmm no. I mean I signed up but am unsure if I'm going. I figure if all else fails we unplug the uplink and game on our own. All I need is a keyboard and a mouse and I'm good to go with the lappy.

:( Well I haven?t heard anything from the Maestro on my e-mail that I sent him about RAMCON. So I don't know what the deal is with the forums or the possibility of RAMCON having any kind of tournaments. But I'll keep on trying as well as keeping all of you up to date as to the status of what might be going on with these two issues. This sucks I guess will just have to wait and see what?s going to happen.

I agree too, I?m down with what {OOE}Death and {OOE}D-Bone said about gaming no matter what on that day. So did any one say whether or not {OOE}Ghost is going to be able to make it to this years Ramcon? By the way Ramcon?s site is back-up and running, hopefully that will help on get some more people signed up. As for the Forums? well there still all jacked up. With that being said the Maestro did post a response as an announcement on Ramcon.net before the site went down about the issues he?s having with the Forums. So if you want to know what he said about that, then go and check it out. The Maestro unfortunately did not mention anything about having any kind of tournaments or any type of organized game lists to be played at Ramcon in his announcement. So that?s the latest news.
I?m out...
