rem file ext.?

I am looking for a driver or application to allow me to view a .rem file. I am not having alot of luck.
I tried a viewer named vlc as well as media player and a couple others without any success. Any suggestions.
Its for a multi camera system inside a resteraunt. The person who delivered it to me forgot to download the viewer off the machine and no one there is intellimegent( yeah spelled it that way on purpose) enough to get me a copy.

Doesn't sound like a standard file extension. There is a nice program out there called GSpot http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ (bad name I know) that can analyze avi format files and determine their codec. Other than that you may be looking at a propriatary format, or possibly with a multi-camera system maybe a bunch of standard format files stiched together into one.
