Star Trek 11 - Matt Damon possibly young Captain Kirk

The Insider (http://insider.tv.yahoo.com/insidetrack/malkin/), the syndicated gossip TV series, reported a rumor that Matt Damon is being eyed to play a young Capt. James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams' proposed 11th Star Trek movie.

I actually do like the idea for Matt Damon, he looks similar to a younger Shatner and I like Matt Damon as an actor. From what J.J. Abrams is saying this is going to be different from your average politically correct Star Trek movie, he wants to to be "Scary" but still maintain a level of seriousness. As of right now. Star Trek is pretty much dead, if they pull this off.. who knows...

I'm open to Damon. I trust JJ Abrams, he is the man. I'm more excited to see what he is going to do with the movie than who the star is.

My very very first action was... "aww no... just no..."

But then I started thinking about it, he's a really talented actor. And today? You can't say that about more than half of Hollywood, it could be worse to be honest. Really excited, if the script does the movie justice could really work out well.

And that's true... Star Trek is essentially dead, this could be the jumpstart to something new.

Star Trek (The Original) = Yep

Star Trek: TGN = (MY personal favorite, outstanding)

Star Trek: DS9 = (Again, I thought it didn't get the justice/reviews for a well thought out show/original concept in a line of "default" settings, later on it just got better and better but took awhile to jumpstart.)

Star Trek: Voyager = (This is where I say it died to be honest... I hated this series...Tom Paris the only redeeming character turned into a complete schmuck. So again, I didn't like this, Janeway (the script and character not the actor though I've never been a fan of hers anyways) was a moron. She made horrible decisions compared to her predecessors.)

Enterprise = (notice! this does NOT say StarTrek -- again... just Wow.. just.. wow)

(movies are in a category by themselves -- liked a majority of them but this is just a complaint from one fan.) What about you guys? what did you like and did not like in the Star Trek series?
