AMD has released any early Christmas present for all of us. 64-bit computing at half the price! Anandtech has whipped up an early preview of this processor and I think this quote says is all:
Value, however, is not just about price; it is about performance for your dollar. The Athlon64 3000+ delivers value in spades. Running at the same speed as the 3200+, the reduction in cache to 512k has only a minor impact on performance. In almost every benchmark, the 3000+ is only a few percent lower in performance than a 3200+. Even more important, the 3000+ performs very well compared to Intel?s 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 ? a chip that sells for almost double the cost of the Athlon64 3000+.

Dear Santa,

I've been a good boy this year. I would like an Athlon 64 3000+ for Christmas. But I also need a 64 bit OS to run it, plus a new motherboard. While your at it why don't you throw in two new 240gb Serial ATA hard drive so I can setup a raid. If I get all of that, you know I'll need the latest video card... so I'd like a new GF FX 5950 Ultra. Gotta have a nice Lian Li aluminum case to put all in, too.

I'll make sure there's a nice big open spot under the tree for all of that because it's going to take up alot room.

Thanx Santa!!

P.S.

I've been a REALLY good boy this year! So can I have World of Warcraft with all of this so I have something to play?
