Well the new installers won't let you do it, they just say "I'm sorry, you already have a newer version blah blah blah..."
I found this document on microsoft's support center that tells you how to be able to reinstall IE6:

Basically it requires you to modify a registry key to let the installer know that IE6 is not already installed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
Set the key "IsInstalled" to 0 and re-run the setup program.
